Taiwanese Artists' Album Packages Attracting Attention
Do you ever buy music albums (專輯) that you can touch?
Some albums have very creative (有創造力的) album packages.
Album packages are the album covers (封面) and the things that go inside the
covers.
Album packages can get crazy.
One was a skull-shaped gummy candy (骷髏狀軟糖).
It was 3 kilograms... and people could eat it!
Things that go inside album covers can be little books.
They might have the words to the songs, notes, art, photos, thank yous, or
anything else the musicians want to put in.
These all make the musicians and their music more interesting to fans.
Fans feel they know the musicians and understand their music better.
So album packages are very important!
Some Taiwanese artists (藝術家) are making creative album packages.
They are attracting attention (很吸引人)!
This year, two album packages by Taiwanese artists were nominated (提名) for
a Grammy Award (葛萊美獎) in the U.S.
Grammy Awards are given for excellent work in music.
The packages by the Taiwanese artists didn't win this year, but even being
nominated is great!
One album has a theme (主題) of sickness.
In music, this theme is not usual in other countries.
The artists say it is a Taiwanese theme!
The album cover looks like a gift box.
It is about the size of a smartphone.
The art on the box shows a scab (它的圖案是傷口上的痂).
A scab?!
Yes, but it is shown in a beautiful way.
And a scab shows that the wound (傷口) under it is getting better.
All of the songs on the album are about things that hurt but are now going to
get better.
Everything about the album package shows this.
The other album package is for a British and American band in Taiwan.
It has a book in it... with thirty-three pages!
People can learn about bands that make music with things like washboards
(洗衣板) and... jugs (水罐)!
That kind of music sounds like fun!
This album cover looks old, but it is new.
The art shows Taiwanese and Western (西方) things.
There are Mandarin (國語) and English words.
Taiwanese artists won the Grammy for best album package twice, first in 2022
and then in 2023.
Besides this year's two nominations, at least two other album packages by
Taiwanese artists have been nominated.
That's amazing (驚人的) for a small country!
Taiwan's artists are very creative!
台灣雖小,卻有很多世界級的創意!

退休警察 意外成為尋找寵物專家
Retired Policeman Accidentally Becomes Pet Finder
"Oh no, where's my dog? She ran after a rabbit and hasn't come back! Fifi!
Fifi!"
"Hey, I know someone who can help!"
Chad used to be a policeman. Now he's retired (退休了).
He bought a drone.
It can quickly look at large areas from high in the sky.
It has a camera that can see heat.
Chad had fun with it!
He flew the drone around.
Chad took pictures of the wildlife (野生動物) it found and put them on social
media (社群媒體).
A woman couldn't find her dog.
She saw Chad's pictures.
She asked if he could find her dog with his drone.
Chad thought he could.
He asked many questions about the dog.
It took only an hour and a half for him to find the dog!
Then he found a lost puppy (小狗) in the mountains.
The mountains were cold and snowy.
The puppy's owner says Chad saved its life!
Many people started calling him about their lost dogs or cats.
Now using his drone to find lost pets has become a business.
He has found more than 40 dogs since he started about a year ago.
He gets a lot of calls about dogs that have run off and gotten lost because
they were new pets, didn't have a leash on (沒有戴狗鍊), or chased (追趕) an
animal.
When Chad finds a dog, he usually doesn't go out to get it.
He calls the owner about where the dog is so the owner can get it.
He stays on the phone with the owner until the owner gets the dog.
Sometimes the dog is cold, tired, or upset (沮喪的).
It might try to run from the owner again.
The owner needs to talk to the dog softly.
"Here, Fifi! Come here, baby!"
If the owner can't get the pet when it is found, Chad does.
Once, he had to climb almost 600 meters up a mountain... at night!
Chad thinks of the dogs he looks for as a pet someone loves very much... a
pet whose life is in danger!
He tries very hard to find each dog.
He never dreamed buying a drone would lead to him finding dogs!
有時候某個愛好會意外地變成一門好生意,而那四十多隻狗狗也因此幸運獲救。

Tasty Tidbit
Have you ever visited the City of London in England?
Did you know only about 9,000 people live there?
Yes, you heard that right: 9,000.
How can that be?
Well, just like Taipei is in the Greater Taipei Area (大臺北地區), the City
of London is in the Greater London area.
Over 8 million people live in Greater London!
The City of London is very small, but very important.
It has its own mayor (市長).
It has its own police!
It has a very big bank.
And it has skyscrapers (摩天大樓)!
Some have nicknames (暱稱), like the Gherkin (黃瓜), the Cheesegrater
(起司刨絲器), and the Walkie-Talkie (對講機)!
That's cool for a city that has only 9,000 people!
