Hsinchu's Smartest… Scammed the Most!

It looks like being smart doesn't always protect you from being tricked
(被騙)!

Hsinchu City and County now have the highest number of fraud cases (詐騙案件)
in all of Taiwan.

It's a bit ironic (諷刺)...Hsinchu is known as one of Taiwan's smart cities!

Yeah! It's full of tech companies, smart transportation, and green ideas.

But even in a "smart city," people can still fall for scams (詐騙)!

Prosecutors say that every month, about 150 people out of every 100,000 in
Hsinchu report getting scammed.
檢察官說，新竹平均一個月每十萬人裡面就有一百五十人上當受騙。

And the total money lost (損失的金額) each month is around $220 million NT
(兩億兩千萬新台幣).

Many of the victims (受害者) work in the high-tech industry (高科技產業).

They are engineers (工程師), technicians (技術人員), and managers (主管).

They usually have good jobs, high salaries, and strong confidence (很有自信).

Scammers use fancy words (詐騙集團會用漂亮的話術) like "high return
(高報酬)," "financial freedom (財務自由)," or "exclusive offer (特別專案)" to
make their victims believe they're getting something special.

But even the smartest people can be fooled (被欺騙) when it comes to things
like cryptocurrency (加密貨幣) or fintech investments (金融科技投資).

That's because these are new topics that many don't really understand.

Prosecutors say scammers play with people's emotions, not their intelligence.
檢察官說，詐騙不是玩弄人們的智商，而是玩弄「心情」。

Some victims even feel too embarrassed (丟臉) to ask for help.

Experts say the best way to stay safe is simple: ask questions!

If you don't understand something, check with a friend or an expert before
investing your money (投資).

Remember, being careful doesn't make you weak.

It makes you wise!

So next time someone promises "easy money (輕鬆賺大錢)," maybe it's time to
say… "No thanks!"

Because the only one getting rich might just be the scammer!

修補一顆「破碎的心」
Fixing a Broken Heart

We all know that a "broken heart (心碎)" hurts, but did you know it can also
be a real medical problem?

It's true!

Doctors call it Takotsubo syndrome, or broken heart syndrome (心碎症候群).

It happens when someone feels very strong emotions, like losing a loved one
(失去親人時), and their heart suddenly becomes weak.

People with this condition can feel chest pain (胸口痛), tiredness (疲倦),
and stress (壓力).

It's just like a heart attack!

But until now, there hasn't been a clear treatment (治療方法).

A new study from the University of Aberdeen in the U.K. might have found a
way to help.

In a world-first trial (世界首創的實驗中), doctors tested two programs:
exercise and therapy (運動和心理治療).

One group joined a 12-week exercise plan, including swimming, cycling
(騎腳踏車), and aerobics (有氧運動).

Another group took cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT (認知行為治療).

CBT involves special one-on-one talk sessions (談話治療) to help manage
emotions.

After three months, both groups showed stronger hearts and better energy.

Some could even walk longer distances than before!

Doctors say this shows a strong link (密切的關聯) between the brain and the
heart.

Taking care of your mind helps your body, too.

Most patients in the study were women, around 66 years old.

And the results were so good that scientists hope hospitals will use these
treatments in the future.

So maybe the best cure (最好的治療) for a broken heart isn't just time…

It's talking, moving, and healing - inside and out!
